Default 205 gti

I'm helping a friend with a 205 GTI. The project is a 2.0 turbo conversion and hopefully done for around 2k.

Sourced a 406 saloon for 450 and a 205 for 1200 (the price of a 205 gti has increased massively in the last couple years!!!)

Started with ripping the engine and wiring loom out of the 406.

406 gone

205 was next and engine out.

Two engines side by side

Need to get a new clutch then the gearbox can be swapped other.
Plan is to have the engine in the 205 by the end of the week.

Spoke to my friend today and the clutch has arrived at the parts place. He has gone through the 406 loom and removed all the wires not needed. So tomorrow the plan is to put the box on the engine and get it in the 205.

Keeping an eye on this. My bro has just bought a 309 Goodwood (that he last owned in 2006). Isn't the 406 a 1.8?

Love this, got a soft spot for the 205 gti.
The 406 is 2.0 sri T think they're around the 150hp mark

It wasn't women, I've always had that priority the right way round lol. I had to get on the property ladder. But that's done now, and I'm buying myself a Christmas present.

Its been a while since I updated anything. The engine went into the 205 weeks ago and had it fire up and run. Been slow progress at the moment on waiting for delivery on boost pipes intercoolers (had a escort cosworth to begin with but was to big)

Modified the 205 exhaust to fit to the turbo. (the car came with a powerflow exhaust) The welding doesn't look that nice - I had thick wire and had to fill 10mm gaps.

Boost pipes routed.

Plan was to make the car look completely standard from the outside, and you can't see the intercooler at all.

The standard rad is being reused. Its lowered to clear the boost pipes and will have a slim line fan. Just need to weld on the other side bracket.

Still a couple of jobs to do - mostly the water pipes.
