Had it out today to put some miles on it. Running wonderfully. Haven't taken it above 4k rpm, and not taken it to WOT, however it is stupendously quick.

Has a huge surge of power at 3k rpm and either throws you in to your seat or lights the wheels up. And thats going light on the throttle.

Only a few small bugs identified. The speedo has stopped working, and the front o/s indicator has stopped. Both likely to be simple connection issues on the rebuild. Should be an easy fix.

What a hoot, though!!

Been using this occasionally just to run the new engine in, going good so far.

Chasing an intermittent issue with the speedometer, otherwise no faults other than a blown indicator bulb.

Gave it a snowfoam bath yesterday too

Took this to a mini meet last Sunday, then it started to snow. Don't normally have it out in the rain or the likes. Was hugely impressed with how well an old mini does in the snow compared with modern cars

It got about a foot deep on the way home after this

The only issue I had with my last mini. It had the glass fibre bumper / spoiler and it acted as a snow plough when the snow built up as it was lower than anything else on the road!

Glad you are getting some use from this now after the work and money doing the engine swap.

I use my Mini in the snow as a first choice. Modern cars, especially ones with ABS brakes and traction control are a nightmare in the snow.

I take it you like it then and all this talk of selling is out out the window?

Cheers, yeah i love it and despite not giving it full beans yet, the pull from it is phenomenal.

Ive covered about 200 miles since the engine install, just giving it light use to run it in so far.

The only issue for me is that I'm about to lose storage space for 1 of our minis, and all the others are works in progress. And I'm itching to get on with them. So yes, this will likely be going to a new owner soon, but fear not as there is interest from a forum member on here

I've had this for 8 years now and its been an iterative project. I always finish my minis and then get bored and want to start on my next ones

Minis have always been brilliant in the snow; I used to commute 25 miles in mine and would get there on days that others couldn't. I even managed to get home in the epic snow of 2010, when I had to dig the Mini into the drive when I got there! And that was just on ordinary road tyres.

Nowadays I have an Audi TT Quattro...
