outside in the sun by joa kwin, on Flickr

moved the car outside to get a good look at it and to turn it around

so that I could finish sanding the right rear fender and start working on the rear valance and cut the rear fenders

I have 165/60/13's mounted in the front
and 175/50/13's mounted in the rear, (still need to change those wheels out for the new ones)
but the sides walls on the front tires are almost double of the rear's

I changed up the exhaust, removed the cat, and made it a side exit in front of the right rear wheel

I'm in the process of buying this mill, its 425miles each way from my location
I'm having my brother and dad go pick it up on sunday, since they live about 15mins from Bonita
and then I'm going to go out in a few weeks from now to bring it home

I dont know a lot about mills, but I have done a few things with them over the years cutting stuff out manually on a Bridgeport at work

but I figure buying one for home use will help me really help me get better with that tool

I was looking at buying a brand new sieg x2, alittle smaller then this jet machine, but the jet weighs more and cost double of the x2 machine when brand new, so I think in the long run, I'll be able to use the jet machine longer before having to upgrade
what I really want is a Bridgeport mill, but they go for big money

mini mirror right side by joa kwin, on Flickr

my brother gave me some old mirrors he had laying around, they are stock Harley Davidson motorcycle mirrors
I got some allen head bolts (not pictured) to bolt them to the door skin,
I welded some 1/4 inch nuts to the door skin

I made the base plate out of some aluminum

mini on new wheels by joa kwin, on Flickr

had to do some work on the front of the mini, so I had to turn it around
I lifted up the rear of the car 1/2inch since taking this picture

I'm in the process of making a to-do list and everyday I try to knock out 1 or 2 things on it

this weekend the big plan is to work on headlight wiring and turn signals, and the horn, and aux lights

led spot lights by joa kwin, on Flickr

this is what I plan to use for my aux lights, I plan to mount them behind the grill (for now), I picked up the pair of led lights for $40 USD
seeing how the del sol came with the factory aux lights, the wiring is already set up, so I plan to use it

mk1 mmetro floor mat by joa kwin, on Flickr

put the floor carpet into the mini, and my mk1 metro floor mats
I need to find the inner fender well black carpet still

I got collectors car insurance on it now, dont have to smog it because of that type of insurance

I have an appointment in a hour with the AZ MVD to get the car inspected for the motor swap

I dont think it will be a problem, because the donor car's paperwork is in my name, and its been in my name for over a year
so I think it will be just moving the engine/trans numbers from the del sol on over to the mini's paper work

mini is done with the inspection and now I just have to go into the dmv to get the new sticker for the car, but im waiting one day, so it will have a nov sticker vs oct sticker on it

the inspector was cool with the vin plate being inside the shell, but his boss wasn't and he said it has the wrong rivets for the vin plate, and the ones I used were the same style as what was on the car before
but then again, the boss didn't know they made right hand drive cars...total tool, the boss asked me if I cut my car up to make it rhd, and so I told him, its a British spec car......they drive on the other side of the car and road..... all he said was ok

the motor from the 1995 del sol, came back as a 1994 civic motor, and that 94 civic was stolen back in 1996 for a few hours but was recovered

I know the del sol had its motor rebuilt by the honda dealer less then 20k miles ago, aka swapped for a different motor, the car fax report told me that, but I didn't have that with me

so I had to write down my history with the mini and the 1995 del sol, and they gave the mini a new vin number and plate and installed it on the car

the boss kept on saying that the vin number starting with the letter that it did was the wrong year, im telling him, its a British spec car, the V5 is British not American, and its the correct letter for the British DVLA system, and then the boss asks me, whats DVLA....im thinking to myself....Muppet
at the same time im trying to not be a d$$k to this guy because he can be one back to me, so I tell him what DVLA is and then he says, oh its a gray market car, so I tell him its over 25 years old, its good to go

the only thing that saved me a huge headache was that the mini's vin number was stamped into the windscreen lower panel where the back of the bonnet sits

costed me $25 USD for this inspection and one hour of my time,
tomorrow the new sticker for the car will run me $10.50 USD because I dont have to pay road tax here or import tax on the mini because im in a tax free status right now

my crank pulley broke on me the other day
this pulley was on the del sol when I got it, with 203K miles on it, and being a AZ car, high temps and being very dry, I think because of that, is why it came apart

the other one in the pic is what I put on the car
I still have to go get a new belt

exhaust painted by joa kwin, on Flickr

modified the exhaust again,
rebuilt it with smaller dia pipe and some different mufflers, the old one was way to loud when I got my foot into it

only a matter of time before the cops pulled me over for a donation to them
