Hi I’m new to the forum put a post in the newbie section I’ve got a mini swift conversion it’s running driving and everything is working the only thing is it doesn’t sound 100 percent it starts up and ticks over spot on I’ve changed the plugs checked the ht leads checked the petrol everything seems okay. The previous owner said he changed quite a few bits before selling it to me like the air mass sensor, Ecu, coilpack and he mention a screw by the back of the inlet which I think I found yesterday which seems like a mixture screw, so I don’t know what to do now I’ve checked everything I know of.. Any ideas ?

Welcome to Swift engine!
If you are running injection as per standard Swift, it won't be mixture. Mixture control should be with ECU, I think. I think screw you are talking about is idle. Put photo up and see what we can help you with. Cheers Atchi |

Standard injection unit it’s definitely the air mixture screw it’s to the left hand side at the back of the injection unit by the brake master you can hear the filter sucking more when you move the screw. I don’t know how to put pictures up on here just tried see if you can see it.

Great little engine - you should get years of enjoyment from it, however it is over 25 years old so a few things need updating. The fuel rail has a built in bypass regulator. The diaphragm is likely brittle or perished and not working properly. You should check the running pressure to be sure, and replace it if necessary. There are lots of add on regulators available if you cannot get an original. Your injectors are also likely half plugged or seized as well. New standard ones should be fine for N/A use, or search the forum for larger sizes if you are going to turbo it.

Anyone know anywhere can get a decent manifold for g13b engine can’t find any anywhere ? Haven’t got any updates on car been with my uncle doing abit of bodywork when it’s back will tackle it again and finish it

The standard cast iron exhaust manifold flows very well - no need to swap it out and if you do it probably wont fit between the front panel anyway. The steel joining 2 into 1 section is the weak link, fix that and stick a single Manflow box on the system and it will work magic.
Look at Bobs post and see how he removed all the casting marks and lumps of excess cast iron, it make it look like something from Janspeed anyway and it's the cost of a couple of cutting and grinding discs. Only alternative inlet is the reversed Cultus manifold - like rocking horse pooh to find and probably about the same cost as a full 2nd hand G13B lump! Get the engine running as it should as standard - it will be plenty quick enough, lots of people on here are running them and in a Swift they were super quick, so in a mini they are amazing - people stop next to me at the 2nd set of lights (lol) to ask what I'm running, they are that quick even compared to modern stuff.
