Swapping gears into an AWD gearbox. using the N2E5 gears with the 4.0 FD.

Using this specific gearbox number you need to do the following:
- make a spacer between de 2 diff gears, 6mm
- turn down the bottom end of the main (19mm to 15mm) and counter shaft (38mm to 36mm)
- adjust selector forks
- counter sink (180 degree) the diff bolts 4mm, use longer bolts
Compared to the gearbox internals that some others are using with this there is no need to make a bush or grind down the lower countershaft bearing..

This weekend i will start on the above..

Did some more work:
- Made room for the bigger shaft bearing
- Finished the diff spacer
- Finished machining the diff

Thread revive sorry guys!
Got some questions to try and spend my build along
So I am currently working on the front subframe for my mini and I am wondering if the allspeed shafts fit into the crv gearbox?
Also how have you found the allspeed cv joints?

Hi, I just used the same shafts as were in my FWD setup.
Home made so the Allspeed shafts should do.
Allspeed CV joints are fine but never had a mini one fail.
Weak point seems to be the spline end of the shaft.

Brilliant thank you!
What gears did you end up using for the gearbox modification?

Used the early petrol Accord gears and diff as per AWD
Not a straight forward swap, would see if AWD would do one for you. Or look through my last build or AWD if your feeling brave.

I have made a new thread and copied the posts from :-

https://www.16vminiclub.com/showthread.php?t=35921

as there is interesting info posted by GeordieSPI about transplanting H/F series gears in to a CRV gearbox to give better ratios.

I also copied posts from AWD from his Build Diary (https://www.16vminiclub.com/showthread.php?t=37144) doing the same conversion

I though it would be useful to have these available in a standalone thread rather than as part of an associated thread.
