not a great deal to report, had a drive of helen on saturday at crewes missiles dyno day.

i took a trip to the unit after this to drop some parts off an ended up doing a couple of hours work on it.

i spent some time rubbing back the filler i left on the dash, the other week its getting pretty flat now needs another skim as there still couple of pin holes an will have to remove it to rub back round all the areas that are awkward to get to with the front cage bars etc.

also picked up the exhaust on saturday as well so thats now ben cable tied to the rear frame so i can get an idea as to where its going to sit an where the pipes will be exiting the car. i'm going to be making the brackets up in work this week as it'll give me summet to do whilst on overtime.

i plan to remake the pieces going to the edge of the car in stainless an maybe the tips being bigger than the 1.75" that they are there may make them 2.25" not huge but not small enough they look daft. it was handy to have the old corsa exhaust knocking about as the bend in that was enough to curve round the tank an out the side of the car. the valance has still yet to be extended down ( haven't gotten round to buying some sheet steel).

well after 6 weeks off due to shut down in work, holiday with my gt in scotland an then spending a fortune on sorting the cooling system an exhaust on my gt i finally got some time to work on the estate.

whilst i was working i bought myself a new lambda sensor as the old one stripped the threads on removal.
after speaking to geoff an him informing me there was a shorter rad than the one i had fitted in the corsa, i bought a brand new in box from a motor factors on ebay near home for the grand sum of 26 pounds hand delivered to my door

i think with a couple of new hose bends i can get it plumbed in easy enough i've made the lower brackets up in work but left them there.

with the shorted rad an quickly positioning the front i could see how far over the rad can go an it was obvious how much space i had for the alternator.

with a couple of temporary brackets the vaux alternator was fitted.

had a play again with the estate last night an came up with the tensioner. this is the mk1 bracket the mkII bracket in stainless will be made up this weekend if i get 5 mins.

need to work out the belt length no hopefully i can get a belt thats standard fit off a modern engine, rather than custom belt.

the belt i have on it came off a mk4 fiesta an is cable tied round the back of the crank pulley to give me an idea of where the the belt is going to sit an run hence the tensioner being positioned below the belt to push it up off the bottom engine mount.

been a while since i've updated this but i've got a fair bit done since.

the belt tensioner has been finished, i've bought a belt that fits spot on(5pk708 ).
the cooling system is plumber in except the heater matrix as i want to build the housing before i connect it all in. the thermostat to the radiator pipe i had to make up an whilst i was a the mini mad sunday at oulton park yesterday i picked up 2 bottom hose off an austin princess 1800 as they were 160/170 degree bends an would go 180 without kinking the pipe they are now fitted with a straight connector between the two.
the radiator is positioned, now have to have the doors on so i can start getting the front to fit before i fully position the rad.
all the engine side of the wiring loom is connected to the sensors.
i've spent a couple of hours tonight fitting the throttle cable from the corsa to the mini pedal very easy as for some reason the original hole in the bulkhead had been drilled out just big enough to get the end of the corsa cable through.
i've also got the clutch cable fitted fairly easily aswell. due to the pedal box move the cable now comes up where the bulkhead starts to slope down to the floor. i had to open up the pedal hole an also remove 60mm from the outer sheath of the cable to allow the outer to sit on the floor pan an the cable reach the pedal. all im going to do is fit a tapered plate to straighten up the angle of the cable an the outer. the clutch doesn't feel that heavy but will see how that goes.
i've also been playing with the dash as well rubbed it back an the primed it to see where the imperfections are ready for the next skim.

forgot to say i have got my doors back from being skinned

Dubaidaz, the manifold clears the frame no problem, not sure which front bar I have though.

The exhaust at its furthest is 155-160mm off the block roughly 20mm off the end of the oil filter leaving me about 20mm clearance to the front bar.

I can take some pics with measurememts for you on saturday when I'm next working on it if you want.

Thanks for this.

I'll take a look but it looks tight in a round nose.
