Had a mate look at the engine and he thinks the noise is bottom end so not looking good for this car. We put a feeler gauge in each rocker while it was running and the noise is still present.

Looking more like it's gonna get broken...

Shame you haven't got the room, would have been a good excuse for a 16v conversion

I was really tempted by this, but my budget was lacking. I do think it was/is priced very strongly for a car that needs a fair amount of work to get it road worthy.

O bollox I didn't no the engine was Suss,
If so the engine not being sound will affect your brake up price.
What's the noise?
Oil pressure ?

The oils pressure is fine. Running it with the rocker box off and loads of oil in there. My mate thinks it's piston slap or a ring broken but compression is still good on all the cylinders.

Fed up with it all now.

Could be little end tap, chain rattle, exhaust blowing? From experience, a slightly blowing exhaust at the manifold sounds sort of tappy.

Due to Kyle breaking our new Mini's gearbox () and me spending a load of money doing this one up, This Mini is now getting broken.

Gearbox is going in red Mini, everything else is up for sale.

I will sell whats left complete if anyone wants it. Ideal 16v conversion case.

What's broken in the gear box on the red one?

Yes. Kyle managed to last 6 weeks without breaking one. Both engine/gearboxes coming out. The rest of this Mini Sprite is for sale.

BTW front subframe is also knackered. It's cracked in a few places. Towers would be ok to cut out of it, but no use as it is.

I don't think the case is damaged. I am lead to believe the main shaft has snapped. The box has a 2.9 final drive in so will appeal to someone just for that...

I'm in the process of removing them from the cars so will let you know as soon as I find out for sure.

OK. Happy to pull the box apart for you and let you have the final drive back. They go for about 100 these days. That said, I might know a man that will take it off your hands.

Nice one!

I'm keen to get some money back now. Spent a fortune keeping Kyle on the road...

What's happening to the rest of the engine from this one? How much would you be after for it minus the gearbox and with the potential issues it has? Ideally the whole set up

The head is good so is worth around 100. Based on that, make an offer.

How do you plan to get it to you?
