Hey
I'm using 6x14 wheels with 195/45-14 tyres on my car and tyres are getting an issue. Toyo and Falken still make them but Yokohama and Uniroyal have stopped that size. I was searching for new tyres and came across the Petlas Velox Sport PT711 which is available in this size http://www.petlas.com/en/tire/velox-sport-pt711/PT711/ It is claimed to be an ultra-high performance summer tyre which is the sort of thing I am after BUT I've never heard of Petlas tyres before although looking at their webpage they do a huge variety of tyres for lots of stuff including planes and military vehicles ! Google doesn't seem to bring up any reviews of this tyres (I've found a couple for other Petlas Summer Tyres and they seem good). I'm weary of how cr@p and even dangerous weird branded tyres are (usually the cheapo ones - these are not cheap however) Has anyone heard for these guys ? Anyone used them ? Any info would be good ![]() Cheers Oz

Never heard of them but it seems to be Turkish and they have a partnership with Pirelli. Found some reviews on autobandentest.com and those say they are ok, for what it is worth.

Cheers Dennis, thank you. My old Toyos are still in an OK condition but they are about 12-14 years old so as part of my rebuild I was thinking that I should replace them with fresh rubber hence my search

Hmm
I think these are the same tyres ![]() http://www.petlas.com/en/tire/velox-sport-pt711/PT711/ http://www.starmaxx.com/en/tire/ultrasport-st730/PT711/ Even their websites look the same so it looks like Starmaxx and Petlas are the same company and tyres just under different branding ....

If you look at the bottom of the startmax page you see the Petlas name, either the same company or the page has been copied!

Yes Oz - Minis running 14" wheels are very limited on tyre size due to clearance issues, plus the fact that we're running out of choices; someone's gonna have to give them a go.

You think you got it bad. Just try finding 185/55R13 tyres if you happen to want to keep to the Metro Gti size .....
I'd be over the moon if I only had a choice of Toyo or Falken ![]() ![]() ![]() |
