HI mate very interesting project, i have a mk1 mr2 and a mk1 ford fiesta and have a similar project planned although i was going to use the entire mr2 engine compartment (struts, strut tops, blah blah) and weld it into the rear i haven't actually looked at the mr2 at all and didn't realise they ran a subframe, can you tell me the purpose of welding the beam at the front, is it just for ease of fitting it to the mini.
thanks

im currently in the process of doing a similar project, but with a celica 2l engine in the rear, with celica x-members etc. couple of qs...
1 is the rear of the frame welded to the shell?,
2 if it is, how r u going to get the engine into the frame?

im at a stage where i cannot trust my welding (nothing like yours. lol).
cheers

I think the engine has to go in from under the car. ill post some piccies soon of the middletunnel, semicage and sil re-enforcements. Maybe even with the engine in. In two weeks i got another week off to complete the rear of the car.

Beam is just for ease and a bit for strenghtening. The part where the front enginemount is was a bit weak after cutting it out of the Mr2.
I would like a 2liter celica engine!

I cheated a bit, it should have been my wife's (after a year she got bored an bought another car) speedster with a mild engine, but now it will be my trackdayweapon.

Should be on the road in oktober, but fully finished next summer (details sorting).

Pfft after 4 years of slacking and getting serious it still took me two years to complete the project.

Ok, it didnt become the 20v speedster i wanted to build for my wife, as she grew tired of waiting and bought another car. It became a completely different beast, but now for me to enjoy hehe.

Seems well set up. Not even a jiggle of the steering wheel when you floored it
