I've found i've had to used a bit of sealant on the outside of the gearbox seals (seal to gearbox casing joint) to stop leaks even with new seals - usually on the diff seals though.

I have some Wellseal that I use to seal the casing's up so I put some of that on before putting the seals back in.

Some bad luck there Keith. Especially with the gearbox seal. Having only done limited miles is just a pain.

I have never changed the seal myself. I have just reused the ones in the box. I guess I have been lucky.

Seems like you have got it all under control.

Still here doing bit's & bobs like finding loose screws that vibrate on acceleration & over run. Thought I'd make some spotlight brackets for my Cibies that I've had sitting in the garage a couple of years now as the nights have started to draw in, I copied the design of the ones that are for sale on flea bay for a MK 2 Escort so far they've cost me £0, friendly blacksmith let me have the flat bar foc, just need him to tig them in a couple of places quiet happy how they've turned out but am a bit undecided whether to fit them as the weight of them with the spots on is a couple of kg's each. Nothing is tightened up or bolted in they were just clamped in place to see what they looked like

I've finally managed to get it to a local garage to get a power run done ( M B garage services, Tipperty ind est, Ellon. A little disappointed with the out come I was hoping for another 10bhp on what it produced, but they are good figures for what it is and I'm happy with the performance it gives. There's a couple of area's that I need to look into over the winter mainly the exhaust manifold and look into port matching the inlet, but we'll see

Not bad at that all for a vvc? 6hp over factory figures.

I can understand why your a little disappointed, K maps really need to explain their figures more clearly.
Still a healthy engine and that VVC power curve is lovely, could of little tweaks will see you with the numbers K maps advertise and you’ll be very happy then!

The Torque curve looks like a scrambles course ! I though the VVC was supposed to give a smooth torque curve, that jump at about 4K is more akin to what you see at vtec engagement on a B-series Honda engine. TBH I'd not be too impressed with that

Here's the vid of the exhaust noise skip to 1.55 then jump to 3.55 for the power runs, at the end of the second run you'll here him hit the rev-limiter @ 7400

Yeah I put the side lights on so he could see if the temp gauge started to rise, the he could of put the fan override on, but didn't need it.
