I'm still trying to decide wether or not to change the bumpers, I like them, but I do think it will look more original with the chrome on.

If you swap the steering wheel for an original 'bus' type you'll be be able to control the wee fella a bit more easily & it will look even more sleeper.

Love the car

I do know someone (not me) who would be verrrry happy to swap those for a couple of chrome round nose ones (could probably even have the powder coated for ya )
Having done a bit of research, the HL came with black bumpers, so I thinks I'll keep them.

I'd already thought about changing the wheel for a more original wheel, at the moment it completely obscures the clocks and I keep leaving the indicators on.

Might have been black, but those are STILL clubman shape bumpers, not round nose.

You can tell cos the 'ridge' or step in them.
Round nose bumpers are curved and have no distinctive folds in them, appart from the one right at the top where it folds back on itself.

I promise you im right, ive got a friend who is obsessed enough with the details on clubmans to know

Going to change them eventually along with a few other panels for some lighter material! (will be painted to keep the sleeper look)
Trying to decide on what to do to tidy up the inside and try and keep it looking only lightly modified.

Started to refurb my Metro 4 pots so I can get them on soon, progress so far:

Nitromors

Masked up

Etch primed

Old piston

New alloy piston

Trying to decide what colour to paint them, I considered red, but its going to be a bit much I think and not very "sleepery". So its probably gonna be either satin or gloss black.

Also stuck this on, they'll be the only hint as to whats under the bonnet and I'm hoping they're not too obvious!

Very nice, tbh, most people getting in the car will probably already know...

Do the calipers black, or that bronzy colour so they look standard.

wont make any difference unless you are gonna clean them every week, just use what ever is cheapest.

My anodised black 4 pots are 'gloss' black, but they are always so covered in brake dust and other bananas they are more of a matt black.

I have matt black to hand, will paint em up tomorrow.

Anyhow, just been out playing and double checking a few things and made a huge discovery! Turns out WeeMan was right!

It wasn't hanging down like that the other day when I checked, but today the car bit and started to move under its own power, only got me out of the car park when there was a clunk and no drive again, thats when I found the snapped shaft.

Got the wife to put her foot on the clutch and then release it while I had hold of the shaft and the clutch is engaging and dis-engaging as it should, so I'm going to re-join and sleeve the shaft until I can afford some 1 piece shafts.
