I get what you are trying to do here, but the fact is there are far too many gaps where a stone chipping can get in. After all the effort you have put into this, it will be a shame to have it ruined.

Discussed this already and Iím happy to take that risk, plenty of people have ran without anything for years without any problem, the only way a stone is going to get that high is by being flicked up by the wheel, the side facing the wheel is protected and I have the bottom cover on.
I was also planning on re-fitting the inner arches I had on previously which gave a huge level of protection against ordinary road dirt getting into the engine bay.
Thereís no way Iím spending money on making the engine and engine bay look good and then fitting the big ugly plastic cover on that I also have to hack the top off to make fit so it then looks even worse.

Plumbed in a twin speed heater.
Used a twin hole bulkhead blanking plate and then my hoses go like so:

Havenít got enough clips to finish up so Iíve mocked it up for now and put the clips on when they arrive this week.
Sold my complete rear subframe so I need to finish up my new rear subframe and get that bolted on but Iím going to take the opportunity to degrease the underside of the car from the oil leak I had that sprayed under the car and stone chip it all.

Pull your finger out Dan. Only a month until Wales!

All this fancy stuff can wait...

Need to plumb the heater in to be able to put the coolant back in, no fancy stuff going on here.
Cleaned and degreased underneath today, hoping to stone chip it tomorrow.

Have quite a bit of private work on at the moment and busy with the boy during the week, I have come to the realisation this isnít going to be ready for Wales.
Itíll be back soon just not as soon as Iíd hoped.
Seemed a shame to not go to Wales at all so I bought a car to use, a hunt around on eBay and Facebook marketplace and I stumbled upon this beauty!

Was up for £350 and I gave £300 for it with the KY coilovers, a nice little Pioneer stereo and 10 months MOT!
Bad points are the rust on all the arches from where theyíve been ďrolledĒ a dented wing and the check engine light was on.
I plan on raising it up a bit for Wales as it is stupidly low, having looked at it, I can raise the front as they are coilovers but the rear is springs and lowered dampers so Iíll just have to make do with raising the front.
The car ran sweet but just felt a little down on power (hard to notice when thereís only 50bhp to start with) and a quick google search came up with the EGR valve being problematic on these VW lumps so I had that off, gave it a good clean with EGR cleaner, refitted and no more check engine light, only took half hour too!
Noticed a split air hose so I replaced that and there was a split at the end of the plastic brake servo vacuum hose too so Iíve repaired that also.
A quick run round the block and the car feels less strangled and a bit more punchy so pleased with that, going to clean up the intake and throttle body with carb cleaner as it looks like itís been breathing heavy and has a bit more oil contamination than Iíd like to see, Iíd have used the EGR cleaner but I used the lot on the EGR valve because I wanted to make sure it was sorted, plus it was only a little can.
Plan is to strip the interior and shed some weight and fit a front and rear strut brace for Wales, Iíll have some fun with it, then replace the front wings as theyíre only about £30-40 used and itíll save me messing around with the arches and take care of the dented one, sort the rust on the rear arches and touch some paintwork, then Iíll sell it on, Itíll hopefully be fun in Wales and make me a couple of quid afterwards if Iím lucky!

Default Henry

Had some shafts made up a while ago by DRD Racing, I had the same issue as Charly and the circlip wasnít compressing enough due to the groove not being deep enough, anyhow it was ages ago and forgot all about it so when I came to assembling them a couple of weeks ago I was amazed to realise again that they didnít fit.
Messaged DRD and he said heíd be happy to sort it so I thought Iíd just drive down there, nice guy, very apologetic, checked the groove and it had been done to 1.5mm and not 2.3mm, 2 minutes on the lathe and it was done!
Stupidly, I left one of my CVís there, heís posting it back to me.
In the mean time, hereís a pic of my little shaft.

Is it a joined shaft to mini end, , your shaft looks nice and healthy, but I can't see why the end that slides in should change? It obviously fits now but I'm asking what changed ,

Itís a one piece shaft, thereís no joins, so when he machined the groove for the circlip he didnít machine it deep enough.
