Yeah I'm just taking the roof back to bare metal as you can see from the pics it's bad! But once all the pineapple was off there was only a couple small dents.

I did the same with mine, unfortunately it was between 1/16 & 1/8 thick in paint! took bloody ages to strip it all off only to find the reason it was so thick, was that it is covered in ripples and small dents. I have filled to my best ability just hoping that some good thick coats of high build will fill the rest in.

Done it a couple of times before, and I have to do it to my Elf when I get my garage clear enough to get it in! I've even replaced a roof before; not a job for the faint-hearted, it would have to be a rare car to make it worth doing that again!

its the only time I would recommend cutting a batterd roof off and bonding a f/g or similar type on!

Nice to see some progress. What have you used there? Some sort of spray-on sound deadening?

Cheers I'm a bit disappointed with the progress over xmas had a week off work and this is all I have achieved, no it's stone chip paint had some left over so used that matches the rest of the underside of the car and I've painted the inside of the boot with it as well on my last build I just sprayed the boot black and it didn't last 5mins so hope this will last a bit longer Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

Have you tested it to see if the stone chip goes tacky with higher temps?
Could end up with dirty fingers every time you pop the bonnet after a run. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

That's cool then, thought it was worth checking as it's obviously not like normal paint.
