Default C16SE swap, what's this on my fuel line

Can anyone identify this part, was on one of the fuel lines. My guess would be a filter or a regulator? but it already has one of each elsewhere.

Its the round thing in the picture, it has no letters or numbers on it.

Possibly a damper. Don't see them often.

OK thanks from the answers, from reading about what they do it definitely has too much hose between it and the fuel rail to do anything, will probably do away with it.

One good thing is we forgot to label the fuel lines when we disconnected them so at least now we know which one the feed is!
