Default Another AllSpeed thread!

Right, yes, its another allspeed thread. BUT! Dont worry I've used the search function, however I cant find what i need and I'm a little impatient when it comes to waiting the next day to ring them myselfs, so I thought I'd ask here to see if anyone knew.

I'm selling my Mini(8v Evie) at the end of this month once I get it through its MOT and possibly respray the front end.

I've found a reasonable shell for a reasonable amount and I know that I want to go for Allspeed subframe(although a fabricator friend has offered to help me build a custom one, however with it being a key structure in the mini its best to save the hassle and go for a respected design). And after looking at the B18 frame, it appears to come with tie bars? But I'm not 100% certain if that makes sense?

... then you find you need all the little bits and pieces (brackets, pipes, clip, hoses, cables etc) that weren't accounted for which blow the budget out of the water

I've factored in the additional costs suggested by Oz The price of the aerodeck is an average of the prices I've seen them go around me for. In all honesty the shell was a steal already including steelie wheels, suspension, steering rack and a few extras. I'm not all that fussed about paint, as sleeper is how I'm aiming to go. I haven't decided about clocks and half tempted to keep the honda clocks to get it through its MOT.

Can't get insured on a C20Xe, yet I can get insured with a B18C4. I'm certain they just pull out a magic number

Do you think standard mini CV joints would hold up or do you think its just worth spending the money on HD CV joints from allspeed?

The issue is not the CVs themselves, its that the common breakage point on a driveshaft is where it goes in to the outer CV joint as it is the narrowest and weakest point. The HD joint has a larger diameter at that point so by using these with the HD drive shafts the weak point is substantially increased. In short, if it were me I'd go for the HD set up for peace of mind

ok well thers many ways to skin a rabbit!! they say,
you done your home work for the best,, and its best to stick to it,,
unless you can shave!! works sometimes lol i dont have a mirror but do miss bits ,
c,v + driveshafts, 2 ways to think,, are you going to dig the tarmac up and be agressive?
or are you exsperiaced and cairfull? as oz said realy,, but it is more than possable to use mini cv and get shafts put together if your not digging for australia,
the allspeed tie rods are exspenceive but ther are ways around that,, ask or use search,
and ther are hondas availible cheaper than 1.2k
as allways it depends how you swing,

This is the problem with delving in too deep and making a list, the only list you should make is on the wall with jobs to do in hand and what order if poss

The random purchase part of your equation is already in trouble and under fire

Buy, file away receipt, forget, that is the best equation
