Default phantom grip and LSD type talk

Hey,

So one of the big problems i have is getting traction off the line and though some corners. I've added a rear anti roll bar and coilovers to try and help the cornering traction issue however i do keep thinking about an LSD.

I keep seeing a Phantom gripper thing coming up which looks like it fits inside the standard diff and i assume puts pressure on the planet gears to lock them together to a point before it starts to slip. I get the concept however i'm not convinced.
The other option seems to be a real LSD however i'm expecting this to be expensive.

What are peoples thoughts and experiences?

I know a person with LSD for sale.
If you would like I can ask hoe much he wants to sell it?

I think it was Suzuki Sports LSD which I imported....
If you are to go for Phantom Grip, I will suggest bike wet clutch plate to be glued on to planet gear so that grip surface is not metal to metal. I had CAD data when I made one for myself over 10 years ago. It is just 13mm plate with 4 small coil springs with heat treatments. Yopu can make them for about 40 but you will need to have access to machine shop.

I think Jerry's son Jimbo got my PG LSD.

So you have 2 choices.. actual LSD or PG LSD I made.
Oh, Allan used my PG LSD in his Wolf and he said it works OK!

Cheers

How do you work out the spring pressures for a PG type LSD?

Personally i think i'd rather go for an actual LSD. If you could get me a price i'd be interested. I'm currently running a 1.3GLX gearbox so i should probably rebuild the gear set in to a GTI gearbox case as i believe they are diffrent

G13 gearboxes are all same externally.
Only difference is that ratios of 3rd-5th been closer in Gti.

You could change pinion and crown wheel from your GLX to Gti so you have 3.78:1 ratio to go with Gti gears.

Hi I have a GTI box and am looking for a 3.52 FD to run 10" wheels. Happy to swap whole GTI box for GLX box or just FD if you're interested?

PM me?

Me too, but I am in Canada. If you cannot find one locally, I suppose that I could strip off the output shaft and just send you that with the ring gear. Let me know if you need it, and I will get a cost for shipping.

Cheers

Hi Dennis,
Seems you have 2 of the things I'm after; Conversion Plate and GLX 'box
Can we do a deal for both?
Keith

Ofcourse, but a Suzuki box and a conversionplate for a Vauxhall box

Dennis

BTW Some people are talking about a GLX box, but here in The Netherlands you also had a 1.0 GLX, what you are after is a non Gti 1.3 box !!

Paul's Green One needs the 3.52 FD to run 10" wheels.
I am after a conversion plate to continue playing with and improving the Blue One
Plus... I have projects/experiments planned for the 2 shells I still have... one at a time
Yes, I am aware of the 1.0GLX but had assumed from the thread that yours is the 1.3GLX 'box

I know a mk1 Gti gearbox with 3.528:1 ratio.
It used to be mine and I sold it to my mate but I'm not sure he will everr use it to be honest!

He is more into Micra conversion now.

Let me know, if you are interested.

Cheers
