What sort of bhp do you think you'll end up with from this conversion Mark?

Steady progress being made - Managed to get the front hubs and discs etc mocked up today - all fits, callipers might be a few months off yet - looking at the SC mono block 4 pots.

Not had much spare time over the last month but managed to get a few hours garage time when I could.

I now have a rolling shell, makes things a bit easier - also got it out in the day light for the first time since the respray.

Linkage and itbs now in place

Took much longer than expected to fit the bonnet and grill, but I'm happy with the panel gaps and fitment now.

Might start on the brakes next if I can decide what calipers to opt for.

Cheers Mark

How was it you cleared the sump clearance on the allspeed frame? This was the main thing holding me back with my z18xe conversion.

Im using a 1600 sump, with a custom oil pick up.

I have a mate who's done a similar conversion in a nova.

I did notice that the spare c16se sump I have has the same bolt pattern, and think I should be able to cut down the standard pickup.

Thanks, looks like a clean build!

Looking good bud.

What you doing about the exhaust and radiator? Two expensive items in my build!

Cheers Darren, exhaust is being custom made as we speak.. I don't know the final cost yet!

Radiator wise I'm considering a number of 'off the shelf' items, favourite so far is from a Honda Civic however I keep changing my mind.

Radiator wise - nothing fitted, all too big either depth or width.. Except MPi rad which was deemed too small. So that was custom made.

And......... same for the exhaust really. The SBD headers (from their blueprint) were so long to the first collection point (4 into 2) we hardly had any room between the block and grill and the Mini being only 10 feet long, hardly any scope to 'lose' the required length of each header. So we ended up stacking the pipes and modifying the sump. Now I'll need an oil cooler to stop the sump oil boiling.

I love the colour of your car. My car is British Racing Green with a white roof (standard Rover Mini Cooper) and although I like my existing colour yours is beautiful. So if I paint mine the same as yours I'll be guilty of copying you! My mate just had a feature in a Mini mag (can't remember which one) and he also went green with a white roof. It's the way to go.

Did the same folks shotblast the car as well as paint it?

I wanted to know how much shotblasting is since I think if the shell is fairly solid (mine is) this may be the best way forward for me. I think the people I have in mind to paint my car don't do shotblasting.

Anyways top job bud keep it up.

Thanks buddy - Shot-blasting was arranged by the same company that did the paint.

I'm hoping I can find a suitable radiator without going down the custom route.

Small update, I'm not really against the clock with this so just taking my time and doing odd bits when I have free time.

Not a lot to show, but I've run the loom through the car and have the back end assembled bar the tank etc. 70's rear lights, black lamp - nothing revelotutionary but neat and clean looking.

I've also built the doors, glass, winders and a set of downton mirrors in brushed alloy. My guess is they won't be much use but I love the look.

Front headlights are on and I've done some other small jobs at the front end. The biggest addition is the custom exhaust manifold and link pipe, it really is a great job - after a lot of discussion measuring and research I'm well happy.

A few pics.

I might start the wiring next, depends if I can decide what instruments to go for.. This is the mess behind my last dash I need to sort - that should be fun

Cheers Mark.
