Just to update this, it ended up Pageant blue and a 1.8!

Great colour. That has to be about the neatest extended front valance I've seen. How did you do, and is it fixed or removable?

The subframe front crossmember was cut out and replaced with a straight bit of 50x20 box section. I then straightened the front valance to sit against it on little spacers.

The valance is spit, passenger side fixed, drivers side is removeable to enable access to the alternator and drive belt. The little box in the removable panel, next to the number plate is clearance for the alternator.

When I fitted the Janspeed manifold, I had to make the centre of the crossmember removeable, otherwise the exhaust couldn't physically be fitted!

Spec is as follows:-

1.8 K series, 160 bottom end
DVA non vvc head with the oversize valves (in standard enlarged seats)
Piper 633 cams
38mm motorcycle carburettors (Yam thunderace)
Megajolt ignition
Janspeed exhaustmanifold, 2" twin box mini system
MGF PF1 gearbox with type B Torsten diff
