Default Superfast mini front subframe issue?

Hello,

I am in the process of putting together my 94' Mini that is getting a b18C.
Has anyone using the superfastmini subframe kit have any issues with the front control arm setup?
My friend who is helping me with the fab and setup is telling me the front suspesion is not correct, as he saw with other kits you can buy from the UK
the control arm setup is different.
He mentions that with this setup, the arms will not allow full steering travel and will butt up against various items either the subframe or wheel.

Personally this build has been nothing but a hassle but now I am looking to get help from you guys as you have been there for the various issues that I am having.

Any tips or information would be so helpful.

I don't have any pictures at the moment of the issue, but next time I am over I will get some.
What did you do about the headers? I feel like they are not fitting at all. I had bought PLM headers and they are way to big

Minitec recommends very wide offset wheels for use with their frames - if you have more normal or positive offset wheels you can be running into problems there which may be resolved with steering rack limiters.

Generally, if you've bought headers for a stock Honda they will be too big and would have to be altered, but that also depends on what front end is on your car too.

yeah the issue he said I will have is with bump steer and turning radius.
I will mention the steering limiters to him. Is that what you used in your setup and that worked ok?

About the headers, my front end is stock. I haven't touched it yet. I was thinking about the flip front but I don't want to cut the car unless I know how to properly get it done right and haven't really searched about the process that much. I have seen the front ends for sale and they look nice but not the process.

It just seems really tight in the front, I don't know how any headers will fit there in that gap, even with trimming a bit of the inside bumper. Even the rad is so close to the transmission he is very unhappy about how it sits.

I believe either the standard Honda exhaust manifold or the OBX ones that Minitec sell are the only headers that fit with Minitec frame.

Check out Mighty Car Mods JDM vtec Mini build on You Tube. It's not a comprehensive build guide but it might help you.

thank you for that, I did check it out while they were doing it. I was already knee deep when that started to hit youtube.
I didn't like that they left out quite a bit for instance the steering issue with the suspension geometry.
Not sure if any of you guys have seen the UK kits and how the arm layout is different on the front axle.

The UK kits (Allspeed I presume he is referring to) use a Mini based set up with the original Mini top arm, rose jointed bottom arms and rose jointed tie bars. The Tiebars are bent to help with wheel clearance but even then some people have to use rack limiters to stop the wheels from fouling

I think the cheap SS eBay ones come unbranded out of China and aren't a guaranteed fit. The Minitec one is made by OBX if that's any help ?

i will get pictures up of the issue when I get back to the shop. Everything has been a problem from the rear subframe switch to the headers to the pedal mounting to the headers.
But you are right ardonfast, I will tackle one issue at a time. sorry to derail
