If you're getting an allspeed rig why are you cutting the front and extending it?

It can be done without extending but it is very tight and requires custom rad, exhaust manifold, fiddling with the steering rack and also the clutch slave. Not to mention cutting more out of the bulkhead and also the front panel to accommodate the alternator.

With the extended front I will have the look of a round nose but with the convenience and space of a clubman. Or here's hoping.

Nice work addressing the pedal differences, but you seemed to have stopped just short of spec'ing an appropriate master or slave, I dont think it can ever be as smooth as the honda, which is 28mm actuation for 4-5ish inches of foot travel, foot travel in a mini is 3-4", condensing the 28mm into 1-2" of foot travel using honda components leads to an on/off clutch.

Not your typical heated leather seated track day car but it does have heated leather!

Mikko, fantastic input, greatly appreciated. As I'm up against the wall with time I'm going to crack on with the Honda Master and then start looking into alternatives after the imm car show. These builds are great for testing the grey matter

quick update, its been two weekends after all

Front end cut off, bulkhead cut / welded and made good. Nice clearance all round. Needs seam sealed etc, im doing a dry build so will address when the time comes for paint.....next week

Moved onto fitting the engine into the frame and then onto the car. I then decided on a front end stretch of 50mm, this gives me some play with the engine but hopefully retains the mini shape.

Usual carry on, cut, weld, linish back. Will work the panel lines some more once i get ready for paint.

I then moved onto the gear linkage, it was handy enough done. I made the solid link bar first then the actual selector bar. All gears work and the gear stick is in a similar position to the mini one, if not better.

Once that task was ticked off i could then make the exhaust. For the time being I am using my existing RC40 1.75inch bore exhaust. I measured my honda one and it is 2inch in places and between 1.75 and 2 in others. Will see how it sounds and feels over time. I incorporated a flexi joint just after the exhaust manifold.

I also rotated the oxygen sensor by 90 degrees.

Time has been limited this past two weeks, I have only had Monday night, Wednesday night and Friday night, maybe 3hrs at a time. I'm impressed with how my progress is going. IMM 2017 is looking possible.

Thanks, Dave

Loving the progress and how fast is your build is going but why are you extending your front with Allspeed frame?
Not a fan of extended fronts

Well that's a valid argument

By the way...where can I find these "clips" and what are they called?
