Default V, is for Vauxhall

After uni term has finished finally i can start on my car. First port of call was to remove the body work at the front. Having never done anything like this before was a bit nerve wracking, but after two hours i had it done.

Plans for the car are C20XE, kindly donated from a Cavalier SRI i got from a scrappy, Allspeed subframe, and Megasquirt with bike TB's. During the uni term i have been collecting the parts so i have everything i need to be going on with

The body was pretty nice under all the muck that was stuck to it, so i was happy with that. Will wait and see what the fire wall looks like once the 1275 is out the way.

Cant wait to get on with it now, i have so many plans, just hope my skill can keep up with expectations

Cheers
Ben

yeh i can buy the alloys cheaper than the tyres...aahahh. Ill see how long they last on the road, if they die quickly ill go to 539's i think.

Cool - seem to be a few vauxhall builds on the go at the moment. I use those tyres, they perform really well, in medium compound have lasted me well on both road and track.

Small update for today, had a couple of hours on the car. engine is totally disconnected from the car now (services wise) as well as throttle/coke cable ect. So is ready to roll off. Hit a wall as i didn't have a 1 5/16 socket, but picking one up tomorrow. Removed all the electrics to the front and labeled every connection, my hope is to be able to re use some of the minis loom.

1275 engine and full complete sub frame will be up for sale shortly.

and some how managed to cut myself on the tyre, god knows how.....

Cheers

Up date time! Athough no pictures...

Things have been going slowly over the last week due to starting full time job, bye bye student summer ultra free time. So now I only have weekends to work on the mini.

Began to trial fit the engine into the Allspeed subframe, the alloy sump on the engine is far too big and the engine sits on the frame, and to get clearence on the driver side tower im going to replace the bung with a grub screw, as im quite close to the top arm bolt.

I belive the thread is M20x1.5, can anyone confirm this?

Also trying to remove the pedal box and the steering rack bits, but the anti tamper screws are really tough to remove, so the fight continues! I am also on the look out for an 8v Steel sump, so PM me if you have one or know of one for sale.

I will get some pictures when im home tonight, as words are boring.

Cheers

Right, time to actually up date this.

Its been a bit quiet on the work front, ive been busy with work, as the project i'm on went to PC last week.

Engine is in, with new steel sump and bonded gasket on. All front suspension is on, and its sitting back on 4 wheels.

Started on the exhaust manifold today, cutting it up was going well, until i put the grinder down with the disk still spinning, and its bent something inside. So i thought sod it, by hand then! Then i decided to slip with the saw and remove some skin

Cuppa time now, then back at it!

Roll cage time soon, just need to find what i want. I NEED a dash bar to mount my Corsa EPS column on.

Cheers
