Ok, just got back from a holiday and remade my turbo manifold!! Gained 4Ē leg room by doing so








Just need to weld in the 4th exhaust, but you get the idea!!

For the perfectionists, I know theyíre not equal length, but itís not enough power loss to notice as far as Iím concerned. My smart was built similar, albeit no turbo.

The exhaust will run down the passengers inner rear quarter, with one small box, and exit out of the filler cap hole, nice straight cut tip. In two minds to put the screamer pipe out of the rear quarter, below the exhaust tip (like a separate mini filler hole), or put it back into the exhaust system, not sure yet.

I like my new seat, but I canít see another matching one fitting due to my cage design! If anyone is interested, £150, it cost £210 new, and itís only been sat in the car etc with a little garage dust.

Earlier last week, I welded in diagonals for the rear subframe front mounts! 26mm 3mm wall tube. Wonít be puttin any pics up cos my mask has been playing up and I basically welded them with my eyes closed haha. I found my old one out of the shed to do the exhaust. *


Hopefully a new update later this week, dunno what tho haha.

Hi guys!!

Got in from work and had some motivation!

Went outside with the intention to sort the from cage to subframe area......ended up welding up the front end! got the wings and slam panel welded together....



Lined up really well for magnum panels, not welded the bonnet in yet. I plan to have a flip front....but a flip up front like new minis, headlights, wings, bonnet, everything lift up. I have bmw e46 boot hinges for this. When the front is welded properly, Iíll mount these too. Really need to do the scuttle first and the A panels (the dimple died ones earlier in the thread). Just not sure how to do the scuttle and a panels, Iím not a body worker, but if someone has a step by step link? Iíll have a go. Tried searching already, but nothin much on how theyíre fixed or where to start removing them??







Looks good seeing disc brakes and coil suspension haha

Also sorted all my bits to go to my mates dads this weekend. The shafts, sprockets (the make a jack shaft) and the diff is in bits so he can machine down and make the flywheel fit the diff. The plan is to use a starter motor for electric reverse. I wasnít gonna bother, but as I had time, I stripped the diff and thought it looked semi simple! Wonít be hard to make a bracket to hold the starter.



Hope youíre enjoying the build as much as me. Hopefully engineering updates next weekend.

Self explanatory 15ís, will be running 185/45ís I think, road legal slicks. 100mm arches should cover these.

I dunno buddy, theyíre from an early mgf, just standard ones. I like them as they look like minilites, to keep it subtle........🤦🏼*♂️ haha haha

Wise choice, can you get 100mm sportspack arches?
Would look like a late cooper on steroids!

Iíve seen some jdm style arches that I tho k would suit it better.....because Iíve lengthened the wheelbase I have lost the piece of valance at the rear to fix to, so I need arches that narrow at the ends.

Iíll get tyres first, then measure up properly

Had couple hours today, so stripped the whole thing down to a shell and started on repair panels!!

Got the boot hinge panel cut out and modified the corner pieces so they werenít as tall. All welded in, and plugged round the valance. For magnum parts, they only needed minimal tweaking





Just need to trim round the ends of the valance, but really need arches to do that!!

Hopefully gettin tyres on my wheels this week, so I can start messing with everything to make it fit rather than just chopping out to clear like Iím doing at mo!!

Boot lid fits really well too!! Equal gap all way round, I will be using a fibreglass one tho, but this is for getting gaps right. Havenít got the rubber in, but itíll make it a tighter fit when lid is fitted with aero catches

My mates dad has come out trumps again.......









Shafts are sleeved where are because I could only get a small piece of Sierra shaft. The flywheel is for electric reverse, and the jackshaft and chain conversion piece is a work of art.

Right chuffed

Ill weld them all up this weekend.

So.....tonight I had 3 hours in the garage, managed to weld up all the bits my mates dad made me (guess heís my mate too really?) and stripped the A panels and scuttle! Not too bad under them for a 35 year old car!! I have a scuttle, closing panels and the dimple died A panels to put in! Lots of spot welds to drill, but the A panels were basically filled on haha. Few repairs to do, close in the cage hole, and smooth the bulk head best I can.
