It still needs mapping Sean. The map Iíve got is for a 1700 xflow. Iíve leaned it out to get it running better but still needs a good bit of fettling.

No I need to get it insured again and take it out for a spin. Yours was well down on power! Iím hoping for around 100bhp out of this.

Yeah I know, that’s why I am fitting a new engine (and 5 speed type 9) cannot wait to get it going next year. Waited all my life for a ‘nice’ escort, could do with an extra 50+Bhp though

Thanks
Kris

Forgot to put any updates on this for you but I have just fitted a pinto and 5 speed box in my car

The engine bay is a lot more complete, I have just realised I don’t have any recent pics of it, but it has a servo in it. Had it setup so that I can run it in now, I am desperate to give it some stick! It also has a plate lsd which has a higher preload so it locks up quicker.

Have you managed to get out in yours much?

Thanks
Kris

That looks spot on Kris. Wish Iíd put that bit extra in and got myself a 2 door when they were affordable. Has the Pinto been warmed over a bit?

Ive took an enforced break from car stuff as Iím currently serving a 2 year sentence in a penal colony.

Also, I was lucky to sell my vtec mini for £9k a couple of years ago, I searched long and hard for a 3 dr mk2 escort for the same money. I paid £500 more for mine, how ever I have since spent lots on it, as you do, but she should go on for a few years now. It’s a much better investment and I have always wanted one on the road.

Thanks
Kris

The wifeís job has brought us over here so Iíve sent her out to work while i just swan around. While i can get away with it anyway.

I almost bought a SA import for £5500. It had a turbo pinto in it but needed a fair bit of welding. Ended up buying mine for £3000 and still doing some welding. Iím happy with how itís turned out though. Iím missing popping in the garage for a tinker though.
