Hi Pete,

If you are using mk2 set up, then I can help you.
First of all, I have driveshaft I made with 1/2 Mini1/2 Swift Gti.
They are 295mm in legth and glued then welded.
If you see my buil diary, you can see it.
Also, I have spare clutch plate for Gti, I have a rotar arm for Mk2 Gti.
Let me know what you need and I can help you.

Cheers

Ive got mini driveshafts and suzuki ones now...So if I mess it up I will need some.

Dunno what I'm doing about clutch yet. Might go for a fast road clutch or something but will let you know if I need the bits.

Cheers Pete

I've read that a stock swift clutch can handle 50-60% more power, so unless you are going for big power I would keep it standard.

cool...just thought might upgrade it as slipping clutches are a nightmare and I might go turbo at some point.

Where can I get gaskets, cv boots etc from? cant find any decent suzuki shops to get the bits I need.

A normal motor factors should be able to do you a full gasket set and all the boots you need. I think i used all mini boots on mine.

And also there is always the main dealer.

Been working hard on the conversion this week.
Finished jig off on the friday and cut subframe so engine fits. Need to sort out engine mountings and stiffen the hole thing up and I'm almost done.

Thinking about incorporating my sumpgaurd into the subframe as the sump is very low and it will make the frame alot more rigid and stronger.

I've also decided to shorten and reverse the manifold so I dont have to modify the bulkhead.

Any chance I can get this topic in the build section and allow me to comment on other builds?

Hi Peter

Do you have some pics of the modified frame and the engine in the frame?

Also do you have a mini yet?

Cheers
Kev

Ps Your jig looks nicely made and have you decided what mounts to use? I used cortina and most people have used similar!

I wouls personally make the sump guard detachable, it will make oil changes
easier.

Need to charge batterys in camera to take some more pics.

The jig has come a long way since those pics. The welding is a bit dodgy but it does the job (luckily some1else will be welding the subframe). Could rent it out after Ive finished...might be useful to some1.

Yes I have got a mini...putting this engine in coz I blew up my a series.

Ive done the cutting of the frame but havent added any metal yet. The engine is just sitting in.

As for engine mounts...I think i'm probabaly gonna use the swift ones..but will figure that all out this week.

I will probably make the sump guard detatchable but also cut a hole for the drain plug is.

Bought my megasquirt 1 pcb 3.0 from the US the other day.
But still need to get hold of a ford EDIS system and sensors + trigger wheel.

Has any1 else used EDIS on their swift engine?

A few pics...not for 56k (if any1 uses it anymore)

Engine sitting in cut frame...

Rear of frame cut out for clearance

Pulley clearance may be an issue...engine not all the way back yet.

Back of jig...bit of triangulation to stop subframe twisting.

sumpguard...Will try and combine with subframe for extra strength

Tilt of engine...may be adjusted but will help with clearance on bulkhead a bit

front section of jig can be unbolted and slide right out so subframe can be removed

Im running EDIS on mine.

I would suggest (if you havent already done it) you try fitting the water pulley with a belt on, also are you using cones or coilovers? I ask as the cones actually stick out slightly from the tower.

I'm running cones...

I think I'm gonna cut the old alternator mount off the engine for a bit more clearance....then get my dad to cast a smaller aluminium water pump pulley and make the crank pulley smaller.

Fitting an electric water pump might be easier tho.

Got engine mountings done!! Need tidying up, but engine sits nicely with clearance all round.

Had to cut bolt hole off water pump for more clearance but wont need it anymore.

Front left and rear mounts are set at an angle of about 35 degrees.

rear mount

front right mount

front left mount
