Default The Story So Far,,,

Thought I'd do a recent progress report

Unfortionatly my original build diary somehow got deleted a while ago

With the engine and gearbox now rebuilt I decided to fabricate an exhaust manifold from stainless 304.

Atchi came to the rescue with the stainless exhaust and inlet flanges, the rest came from good old eBay.

For the the 4 headers I used 1 1/2" then into 1 3/4" and tigged em up

Then put the bottom 1 3/4 bend in.

Next I needed to do the middle two headers... Took quite a lot of thinking and working out.

Fitting it up, all the joins now tigged together, I purged the inside with argon to get a clean strong weld.

With the down pipes done a 1 3/4 Y piece was constructed.

Cleaned up with pickling paste... Nasty stuff!

Welding the manifold flange up.

Trimmed up and Y piece welded on.

Nice work. Do you have a link to the pipes off eBay?

Hi Andy - There's quite a few suppliers of stainless tubing on eBay, typically...

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/1-5-90-DEG...MAAOSwxg5X0CO4

I used 1 1/2" 38mm straight, 45 deh and 90 deg bend and also 1 3/4 straight and 90 deg bend.

Sand blasted and then sprayed with Silver King paint from Autosmart.
Had really good long lasting results on ally castings with this
