Did the mk1 action day at blyton again last weekend, was a great day, did loads of laps of the track (it was quiet all day!) and gave the car a thorough workout. Only had to stop as i had worn the tyres out! The lump of rubber behind the engine mount has completely cured the wheel hop i was getting last year and along with the rear ARB and Kyb dampers i could corner much harder than before. Theres still a bit of body roll which could be cured by lowering and some red dot cones on the front but I will live with it for the sake of comfort on the road. No problems with the car, looking forward to wales now

I was told it was lifting a rear wheel off the ground on the tight corners, arb definitely working then!

no video this year as i couldn't be bothered, wish i had now so i could compare how much quicker the car was. I was able to accelerate much sooner and harder coming out of corners as i wasn't getting the wheel hop and i was going in to corners much faster as there was less body roll and the tyres weren't rubbing.

I was quite happy with the cooper s calipers but a bargain came along and I couldn't resist:

Kad 4 pots, they were second hand but never used and a very very good price, they even came with some carbon metallic pads (£90 new!). They just fit under the steel cooper s wheels with a 6mm spacer. They are ridiculously light compared to the standard calipers and they look massive. Braking is significantly better - the standard calipers were good with decent pads but these are much better than i ever expected even with mintex standard road pads

With the wales track event cancelled I decided to still drive over to meet up with some of the lads. Was well worth it, it was a 4-5 hour drive (i did over 12 hours of driving in 2 days) - the first bit was a bit boring but the further into wales i got the better the roads got and I really enjoyed the drive. The mini was great and ate up the miles, it was a good test of how comfortable it was for longer journeys. I got out the other end feeling no more tired than if i had gone in the daily. I'd happily drive it across Europe! Also returned impressive mpg figures too - well over 50mpg

Default My k mini - Ultimate Retro Sleeper

Handles most speed bumps well too!
Was great to get out in your car, it really reminds me of how people react when they see what they believe to be a standard looking Mini.
Itís hard to judge how quick the car actually is with the VVC, I wouldnít have said it felt any different to a 143, 160 or even when I had 180bhp and VVC, the power is delivered so smoothly that itís difficult to really feel any extra power but the numbers speak for themselves and I used to notice I was getting into corners faster than I used to when I was making upgrades from my standard 143 engine.
It really is great little car and I love how youíve gone about putting it together and took care of the little details.

cheers, to be fair I never gave it full beans with you both in the car and without trying to offend you too much the extra weight of two extra passengers definitely makes a big difference! The flexibility of this engine is the best thing, on roads like that being able to leave it in 5th and pull from 1500 rpm makes it a relaxing drive until you open it up
