So what is the difference between mine which is registered as "Historic" and a VHI? As I say, mine has been this for years. Is this a new category?

I guess we'll find out when you go to tax it after May 20th

If it has an mot it may just let you continue, if not you'll have to decide wether or not to tick the box for declaring it's mot exempt and not modded, or mot it which I think we all will anyway.

Tick the box OR it will refuse to let you tax it if there is no mot registered on the system.

Pretty sure thats it.

Ah so yes VHI is the mot exemption class

Historic is your tax class that wont change

I think the VHI no mot option at point of taxing online becomes available once you register as historic via a post office as usual

You might actually be one of the first to be presented with it, When does your free tax need reapplying online?

So when you apply online in August it'll check that you have an mot as usual, tick the box for not modded VHI and it will allow you to tax even if the mot came back as expired.

Don't tick the box and it'll not let you tax unless the mot is valid.

Pretty sure thats the only difference we'll see and the tick box will read something like 'I declare the car is VHI and not substantially changed, is exempt from mot testing'.
