otherwise do you have the fuel feed and return the correct way around?
Yes fitted some iridium denso plugs a few months ago.
Yep the fuel feed is fine, I did put it back together the wrong way round when I changed the pump and it doesn't start at all that way

If you have some laying around i would try swapping the plugs, I've had brand new plugs in the past that have caused missfires etc.

As you can see the ECU arrived at the same time as the Map and air temp sensor.

Saturday I'll try the two sensors first then the ECU.

Cheers lads.

I feel like I could give any forum moderator something to do today!

Put the new air temp sensor in.
Put the replacement map sensor in.
Replaced the top inlet gasket.

Started the car, no difference.

Put the old plugs back in,

Started the car, no difference.

No worries must be the ECU.

Changed the ECU and started the car, no real difference. Took it out for a good run and as usual when it was properly warm, drives really well. Going to let the car cool off and see again what happens with the new ECU with the engine fully cold.

Noticed Tuesday when driving back from work it normally warms up quickly and the symptoms go, but with it being a bit cold they didn't fully disappear.

So what's left? VVC unit? The temp sensor on that? The actuators? Coil pack?

Arrrrrrrgggggghhhhh!

Going back down to the garage now to stare at the engine and mutter profanities!

I think back to basics. A compression test would be a good start.

Going to order a cheap compression tester and then on to the coils!

Cheers, I'll see what the compression tests show and get back to you. Are they the twin coils that sit on the back of the engine?
