Swapped the gearbox on mine today, everything connected up, go to push it out the garage, car feels jammed! The new box is a pg1 that's I've swapped the fd and diff, this is also the same box I have had problems with before
![]() I used a; Input shaft is from a kv6 (I didn't touch this at all apart from swapping it from box to box) 2nd motion shaft is C gears from my original C6 box, but u spec freelander shaft and 620 turbo 5th (I did touch this ![]() Diff is a type b lsd with matching crown wheel from freelander KV6 top casing K series bellhousing (with t series bearings swapped) Gearbox seems to select gears fine (hard to tell as I've got a quick shift). When I think the box is on neutral the car is still locked and other gears, it always seems to be in gear. Weirdly, when the clutch is pushed in the car still won't move. When jacked up all the wheels are free to move (checked the rears too). I'm guessing it's going to need to come out again, but has anyone got any thoughts on what might a problem? |

I am sorry to hear this Will as I know you've put a lot of time and money into this.
![]() There quite a lot of reasons you may have this issue, but are all internal to the gearbox so as expected it looks like it's gonna have to come out and apart again. The reason I am thinking most likely is fitting the selector box. It's possible to select the gears manually and fit the box together with the little lugs either above or below their correct location. This would mean 2 gears selected at the same time, locking it all up. Other than that, I can only think the sychromesh or baulk rings aren't aligned properly. Before removing all this can you actually feel all of the gears using a bar through the hole for the roll pin on the selector shaft?

Good shout by Andrew, it would be the easiest mistake to make.
Unfortunately it’s definitely going to be a strip down to sort it. If you were more local one of us would be able to sort it in no time. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

Cheers guys, thanks for the info, selector box sounds possible! I can feel the gears, I will check how far the selector rod moves in and out compared to a untouched box too.
I'll pull it out the car and split it to see if I can see anything, expect a call Andrew ![]() |
