Default LED rear lights

I can't seem to find the original thread, but a bit of an update..

I now have a patent filing date so I can move forward!

pretty much all the parts are now sourced, production jigs made etc...

so just into final tweaking..

If we make it to Mini Showdown, I'll bring the prototypes along.. for a bit of constructive critisism (bearing in mind they are prototypes) before making the first batch next week

If anyone is strongly interested, let me know as the first batch will be a limited number.. several sets are already spoken for.

Won't be there in Pete's mini I'm afraid.. reasons in the build thread..

First Picture of the inside of the Mini MK IV version..

available with Fog or reversing light in the bottom

they have the maximum size circuit board possible in the space

Mirror chrome faced circuit board

Plug in to standard socket so in the very unlikely event of failure, just plug the bulb back in!

each has 6 by 0.5 Watt Wide angle LEDs

Thats the same output as about 30 of the small LEDs !

The only fiddling is that if you have an old style flasher unit, you will need to fit a ballast resistor onto the indicator wire on the back of the lamp cluster
(I can supply these too)

Can't wait to see them in either of the two types of clear Jewel type lenses !

Going to buy both types just to see !

versions for other models in the pipeline....

At the moment, for group members, 10 per bulb replacement..
thats 60 a complete set for MK IV
or 40 a complete set for the earlier ones.. (not yet quite ready)

includes dielectric grease for the bulb holders..
includes ballast resistors for the indicators.

+ post and packing at 5

I'll be listing them on eBay and my website at 12 per bulb replacement.

The price is only likely to reduce if we sell enough to warrant having them made by machine, they are very much hand crafted..

I think that compares favourably with the Mini Mania ones (MK1 only)

I've just modified the design slightly by lengthening the threaded support pillar by a few mm
the MK IV version will now also fit the MK II and III llamp units as well !

I loke the look of these. Do the MkII ones come without the reverse light as I'm running a Lucas rear spot

Cheers - John

The MKIIs will be the same boards as the top two on the MK IV eg no Reverse or Fog..

so 4 units at 10 = 40
+ 5 post and packing within UK

dielectric grease, ballast resistors and connectors for the ballast resistors included.

I took a picture of a MKII with the lens on, but very tricky with a cheap compact digital

MK 1 version now complete.. just need the van one to be a complete set !

again the lights overpower the camera, so I reduced the voltage to reduce the brightness so that I could get a picture...
They show a round ring of 6 LEDs when viewed from directly behind... (the aluminium seperatot has been removed.. its not needed with the LEDs)
Same LEDs as the other type,

6 off 0.5 watt wide angle LEDs per bulb

Price is the same, 10 per bulb replacement + p&p (for club members)

= 40 + 5 p&p UK or 10 p&p rest of world

dielectric grease, ballast resistors and connectors included

Bought a pair of the Bolton Mini clear lenses...
Can't describe how cool the combination is... !
I imagine the Ultra lenses are the same but more so...

Tried a video with the power of the LEDs turned right down, but it doesn't really do it justice.. !
