Default Custom pistons

Its there anywhere in the UK that can manufacture custom pistons that don't cost the earth but are strong enough to take 8-9K rpm ?

Basically I've got a set of pistons (not standard OEM) that I'd like to reproduce identically but in a bigger bore size (ain't no replacement for displacement lol) and wondered if there was anywhere in the UK I could send a piston to and get them to make 4 copies but in a larger diameter (plus provide rings to match) ?

I've never had to look at this before so I'm kinda looking for recommendations, I though some people have had some experiences with some companies. Just really looking for pointers at the moment.

Gotcha. Well, having never had any customs made before I can't really help in that case

Omega were always great with me for off the shelf stuff though (including after sale support), so if it were me I'd give them a try out of good will/courtesy. Presumably some non-forged ones would be an option from them.

Not sure if he bought direct or through this UK supplier.

I spoke to Omega, they want a minimum order of 12 (I only need 4) and I got the impression they weren't that keen on custom jobs anyway.

I'll try JE

I would expect most of the good brand pistons can pull off that RPM (maybe even stock ones if they are forged), will be the rods\crank that's struggling most at those levels of RPM.

Oz, what bore size are you thinking? In my Mini I went with 81.5 forged (instead of 81) by CP. Also, what's your aim as far as the compression? What rods and head gasket?

I have a TODA 1600 to 1800 stroker kit for a B16A under my bed with 81.5mm pistons and I can't help thinking that if I'm going to have to re-bore anyway from 81 to 81.5 then why not get some 84mm Darton sleeves but it means I would have to get some custom pistons made to suit the stroker kit as there are no options other than 81 and 81.5mm for it. I was looking for somewhere where I could send one of the 81.5mm TODA pistons to who could do all the measurements and then produce an identical piston but with an 84 or 85mm bore.

In the meantime after some Googling I came across these guys:-

http://www.cambridgemotorsport.com/custom-pistons

so I might give them a call and see if they can help.

OZ, Try Sprint Auto Parts in Mildura Vic Australia, i got major work done through them on my 1275cc, 60 thou bore, skimmed desk and tested the head(write off - too soft and had cracks everywhere) but Jeff(hopefully he is still there, he use to race speedway in a mini) got me in pistons and his words at the time was that i would break something else first but not sure on brand of pistons and rings he sold me. He is one of those guys you send you parts to and pay the bill without looking because he is fair priced but the knowledge is above what he charges.
