Hopefully you can take me for a spin in it next time i see you, be nice to feel the difference of a lightened flywheel. Did it pick up better?

After taking it out for its test with the new flywheel I've got problems selecting gears. At first I couldn't get reverse, 1st or 3rd. Took the linkage off and cleaned, greased etc and now I can't get 3rd or 5th.
Been looking at other linkages on the bay but not sure which mine came off. I bought one for a corsa c but its way too big but the others all seem to have little bends or kinks in them. Need a trip to the scrapyard to investigate.
I must add I did the quick shift mod on it which didn't work out so recut, welded back to standard.
Frustrating, should've left it as it was methinks. I always have to be fukcing around with it...

Disconnecting the linkage from the selector and took that off they gearbox tonight. The pin that you push in to lock the mechanism isn't actually long enough to engage in the shaft to lock it into position. Must be about 4mm off touching it!

Put it all back together and just put the gearbox where I thought it should sit in neutral, tightened up the clamp bolt and all seems good. Need to take it for a spin to make sure but it's going in all the gears now which it wasn't before so I'm hopeful it's sorted.

Well started it up tonight to try the gears out. Put it into first but it just revved and went nowhere, same with 3rd. 2nd and reverse were fine. It feels like it's going into gear but not engaging. I'm wondering if when I out the selector back onto the gearbox I've caught one of the tabs inside the box. Further investigation needed methinks...

Right touch wood I think I've sorted it. Took the selector off the top of the box and refitted it and all seems good. Fired it up and it moves in all the gears so that's a result for me. Kept the car running up to temperature right up to the point where smoke started coming out the n/s wheel arch. Looked under the car and the cat was glowing like a good un. Think it was melting the underseal onto the exhaust! Quick turn off and a fan with some card cooled it down enough for me to dare leave it unattended!

Been in the garage again, took the cat off, knocked all the gubbins out and put the empty cat back on. Hey presto one link pipe. No more glow and no more smoke. Sorted...

I'm more a Spireite than a Hammer Shaun but a good result for us...

I would say you're probably more a spanner than a hammer

Wheels all painted and lacquered. Fitted them up and took it for a quick spin today. Gets a bit squirrelly in the damp when it's being floored I have to say. Had a slight problem getting it into 5th so the linkage probably needs a bit of adjustment but it goes and stops so alls good

There's always bloody summat! Went to get it out for a wash and polish but couldn't get it started. I noticed when it primed the pump I was getting no fuel pressure. Took the pipe off the pump and no fuel coming through. I fitted a new uprated Walbro pump last week which worked fine enough for me to take it to fill up and a drive around.

Need to drain the tank and take the pump out for a look

I've had it before, I was running a HP pump inside the tank and the small piece of fuel hose going between the pump and metal tube up to the top of the tank broke down and split. Some fuel hose doesn't like fuel on the outside I think lol.

I take it its making a noise at least? (normally I'd not ask but you do live pretty far up the country).

Yes I'm thinking summat to do with that hose. Maybe come off it as the hose clamps supplied weren't the best
