Default Would you guys use me to dyno your cars?

I'm very seriously considering setting up dyno business on the side of general maintainace and one offs based in Oxford not far from the new mini factory. As you guys may already know in into kit cars as well as minis and that is ideally what I would like to specialise but would take on what ever so long as I know enough about it.

So basically I'm doing a bit of market research.. Would you guys rather use a dyno guy with experience and pay a high price you would you take a chance on someone cheaper wanting to do a good job at a lower rate.

I would being doing it cheaper it may take me longer but I would make sure it cheaper and of course I would do a quality job as I personally believe in word of mouth and I really enjoy turning out good quality work.

People thoughts and input will be read and seriously considered.

If the price is right and you stick to your word, I'd give you a go!
I'm currently considering purchasing an Emerald.

Are you talking power runs or full on tuning on the dyno,
Ordinarily I would give you a try but unfortunately one of my best pals has a dyno and is on my doorstep and doesn't charge me a penny
I'm sure if you held a rrd day though id come down and stick the shed on.
Give it a go I say and good luck I hope it works out for you

Do you know DTA thoroughly?

If you say you can learn it, don't worry

Think about it very carefully, the tuning industry is on its peach. Not to mention hastle with cheap parts and liabilities.

I personally wouldn't for distance alone.
As mentioned before, I would come for a big RR day if timing was right though.

Does seem to be a lot of RR's closing down my way.
I don't think this forum would be able to keep your costs covered anyway as people here aren't always at the stage of needed it.

I'm afraid distance is the issue for me too.

There are many tuning companies who do the same work locally.

Would you still be up for welding my drive shafts also?

Personally I would take a more experienced person every time. With the greatest respect to you, there is no substitute for experience. Your hourly rate may be lower, but if you are learning on the job it will inevitably take a lot longer. What would your position be if you made a school boy error that ruined somebody's engine?

this is a double edged sword, and exsiteing news,, best of luck with it, firstly check out the oposicion,, if only for now[like everything this will change in the future,
i do have lots of knolage on this,, not on rolling road but verry much the same,]
[ working with peoples art and greedy dreems] 1999 i burnt to open a recording studio,, so i did and like you a had a fair knolage of the subject,,
well i thought i did,lol,
now the hardest thing to get is a good reputation[were do i find one of them?????
i could not just find one[or buy one]
so i went around to pub gigs the ruffer the better, i got chating to the bands, many of them i new a member, i offerd them a free day in the studio,
this is were the phsyco problems start]
some took the chance/others thought i was a raveing madd dreemer
i new i had to get some records made, so this took up 4 monthes of hard graft
my engineers needed paying luckaly it was a daily fee if it was weekly full time i could not have done it[the bills still didnt go away!!
6 monthes in i took my first paid booking, big sigh of releef
then anuther came, but thats how its continude someyimes 5 per month sometimes 2,
i can tell you that 3 booking per month cover the costs,
same with dyno gear i think its verry exspenceive to start with + upkeep,
anyway i saw this thred a few times and was scaird to comment as i new i had to much to type,, and hear i sit not being able to cover hardly any of you qwestion, soz mike,
the guys on hear are so far apart so prolly wont help you much, but if i was close i would see what you could do, and would i do the same again with my studio?? the answer is YES!! ther is a conection with my exsample for sure,
the conection is you have to deal with loads of Dickheads to find a few good ones, they mainly go away semi unhappy becouse you cant turn ther heep of rubbish into a winner, all the best
