Default BMH shell build [standard length]

After many months/years reserching and saving up we've finaly started our B16a2 vtec build. We are building our own frame and will be keeping the front as it is

The mini

a 1988 city which we reshelled a couple of years back into a new BMH shell

The civic

93 civic vti

Our frame & jig

started on theses today made a jig which uses the normal subframe mounting points. After a couple of hours we had the jig pritty much finished, just needs fome legs welded onto it to obtain the correct height.
once the jig was done we weldded in a brace across the towers and then set about removing the tie rod brackets so that they can be re used.

will try update with any progrress as oftern as posible, will also be putting my pics here http://s252.photobucket.com/albums/hh21/lrjonez/vtec/

all comments & veiws welcome

got the civic booked in for an mot tomorro because apparently you need one before selling a private plate.
As far as we know there is nothing needed to pass so as soon as it gets back the strip will begin

Default private plate

You dont have to have the car mot to remove the plate, if it was sorned and the mot and tax wasnt out for a year then you can remove plate did it with my mini, think this info is correct.

well today we started striping the civic and now the engine is ready to lift out, it would have been done today but we forgot to take the lifting straps with us as the car is being kept a few miles away

havent made any progress for the last week or so , as we had to take the other mini of the road due to brake failure + blown head gasket and theres not quite enough room to carry on with the frame.

hopefully tho if mini sport can be trusted i should have my new master cylinder and head gasket tommoro which means the mini will be back on the rooad by the evening and we can carry on.

the wireing is pritty much done just have to fit a fuse box in the car and connect every thing up and pray it works
will up date with some pics of the frame once we get the mini out of the way.

its gonna be used for the dummy build so we can ensure every thing fits and work before taking the mini of the road

Sadly no updates, did manage to get the frame into the shell which showed up a few clerance issues which will have to be sorted,

the build is on stop for now as the van is being moved into the garage for some tin butchery to take place

after a couple of months break i managed to do do a little be more on the frame today as i have run out of gas and cant carry on with the van

found out today whilst on full lock and the suspension at its lowest ( resting on bump stops) the passanger wheel just touches the frame

its that close that if i had been using slighty warn tyres and not brand new ones it wouldnt have touched

so the frame has been modifyed and we have ample clerance, got a few more modifications to make, maybe tomorrow and then i'll try get some pics up
