Had the same issue with my van. Ended up using a small swirl pot and facet lift pump to feed it with HP pump feeding from the pot.

I've tried Cooper S and 4 pot setups on my 16v A series van in the past. And can safely say the setup that really performed well is the Fiesta caliper conversion with grooved disks and decent pads...
