I had a turbo diesel box on a 1.4 engine. Mad as a bag of cats in the lower gears, but pretty civilised in the higher ones.

For a road car, I thought it was great.

Try disconnecting the throttle cable first and revving without it. A kinked cable inner caused me all sorts of ballache that was just like this, eventually diagnosed by Dan.

You'll be pleased how much more stable the Metro based frame is, I thought Andy's car (Phoenix) put down the power very nicely.

I once solid mounted an exhaust without bushings. Didn't mind the extra noise or vibrations, but sure enough it eventually snapped the mount. Lesson learned!
