When you take these followers out they sommetimes (quite often) get air in and lock up. If you then install and run without compressing them you could end up with valves held open at tdc. Given your...

Not sure where you are with this, but i had a similar high rpm issue years ago, where I couldn't get the idle speed down - it turned out the cam cover for a mpi had a smaller orifice on one of the...

No, air temp does only small corrections. Fit the lambda - a failed one made my old hack 25 undriveable. It could of course be a faulty ht component, forcing a backfire into the coil driver and...

16v metros - yeah plenty about, how many 8v 1800s though?

30 bhp less - interesting number - and probably about right I would say, most reasonably engineered 1800 8v engines are around 130.
As for the same amount of work I don't know - if you use the metro...

Well it could be argued that fitting anything other than an A series will devalue your mini, and as for fitting a sc 1800 vauxhall, honda etc yes fine, but you could just as easy build yourself an 8v...

Gearbox and cvs are easily up to reversing up your drive, so I would be looking elsewhere - probably at something youve modified. See if you can get someone to drive it while you watch?

Yes, longer duration cams allow, and work better with higher compression, its all to do with low speed trapping efficiency. 11.5 would be my target on a road car too, with 285 cams possibly 12 to 1...

My 10p's worth.
The k series works well around 11.5 to one with road cams, go too far above this and you're into detonation territory, and artificially retarding the ignition will be the only way to...
