Breather should also have a one way valve on. Idea being it lets air in as fuel is delivered to the engine, but doesn't let fuel out the breather.

Standard mini petrol tank

Standard tank from a carbed 1991 mini. Has a small pinhole leak where I tightened it down onto a shock absorber (doh!), but otherwise fine.

Not to avoid the question too much, but have you looked at some sound deadening options? Would be lighter and easier to fit than more silencers, and very effective.
