Rover Mini Sprite 1996.

It is with a bit of sadness I post this but it's just not viable for us to keep this money pit any longer.

Basically it needs loads of welding and I am not confident to tackle such a project when Kyle is wanting it to drive as a daily. It would take too long. So it's up for sale.

Good points.

The car runs and drives, starts and stops.
A series 1275cc SPi.
It had a rebuild gearbox with 3.1 FD and new bearings, in October.
Every oil seal was changed during the gearbox rebuilt and it does NOT leak oil!
Honda Prelude seats fitted to both front and rear. Seat belts fasteners pop through the rear seat making this a very nice looking interior.
Walnut dash and wood rimmed steering wheel.
All front subframe mountings were renewed less than 3 months ago. Front arches have been trimmed to accept the 13" x 6" wheels and Yokohama A539 tyres with good tread.
Shock absorbers replaced with some good second hand ones I had less than a month ago.
The arches in the photo didn't last long so has group 2 ones on now with correct rubbing strip. Cover the wheels/tyres just right.
Radford style spotlight grille.
Play Mini centre exit twin big bore exhaust (it's loud)!
Home made decat pipe. I do have the CAT to put back on but it would need a spot of weld as it has a small hole.
Panasonic CD player with 2 FLi 6x9 speakers and 2 unnamed 6x9 speakers.

Bad points.

No MOT, No tax.
Welding. Lots of it. Sills need replacing as both sides at both ends are holed. The boot floor along the back edge has rusted through.
Front subframe mount has pulled the floor and cause it to crack so needs plating up.
Passenger door skin/bottom of door is gonna need attention soon, although it's ok for the moment. Drivers one had a new skin last year.
The engine sounds like a tappet is loose. This maybe an easy fix so I'll look into this at the weekend.
Fuel gauge is temperamental.
Speedo is out since swapping the gearbox. It under reads by about 20%.

I have the 12" steel wheels, tyres, nuts and trims for it which I used in winter. I know you will say thats whats ruined it, but it got me to work in all that snow over the last few years and never missed a beat!
Original black grille is included too.
Standard side exit exhaust system included.

I am wanting 2000 for this as it is. I was gonna put all the standard bits back on and put it on eBay but it's easier if it all goes as one.

Tidier than most of the sh!t people are trying to flog at the moment!

This shouldn't take too much to make good, best of luck with the sale. If you don't get a bite then it might be worth buying the panels needed, and paying a mobile welder to sort it.

I have bought another Mini now to replace this one. So price drop before eBay in the New Year.

1500, as it is or can negotiate as I have all the parts to put back to standard, if preferred.

I am going to put this on eBay at the weekend. Last chance if anyone wants it before the auction.

Wanting 1200 but I'm keeping the wheels. It will come with standard steelies and trims.

Get a years ticket on it and stick it back up for 2000.

Even if you pay a welder to do the sills (all it should need?), still better than letting it go for that.

I know it's worth what I'm asking, it's just in the way! 6 cars in our household now. Getting silly having to move each one out to get out. It needs selling to make some space...

He'll be messaging you shortly to see if you'll take his camel as a px.

A british foreign sounding guy rang me from London last night about the Mini. He said would it be ok to come and buy it. I said don't you mean look at it first, he said ok.

It turns out he wants to come up on the train and drive it back to London. I said it's not road worthy as it requires welding, has no MOT and no tax.

Would anyone see this as a reason not to sell it to him? After all it's up to him what he does with it...

As long as he puts enough pound notes in your hand, who cares what he does with it. Just give him a receipt that says sold as seen, no MOT/TAX and get a copy for yourself. You can't control what he does with it.

What he said, make sure you get a receipt which is signed and that you fill in the V5 correctly.

And ensure your send the V5C off rather than "letting" him do it on your behalf.

After being messed about by so many people regarding this Mini I'm considering breaking it. It's a shame as generally it's been a good car.

Would anyone be interested in anything off it?

I also have tonnes of small bits like switches, lights, grilles etc in my spares collection. Getting a bit excessive now.

InstantCustard 21-01-2014 06:03 PM

This sucks. Did anyone actually turn up in the end?
