Project pig. C16SE build.
Okey dokey.

Ive taken the plunge and ordered more or less the full hit from Allspeed.

Rose jointed bottom arms and Tie Bars
Bulkhead box
Gearshift Lift Bracket
Alternator Bracket
Servo Bracket

Delivery of the subby should be before the end of April so watch this space!

Anyway, gotta go.

Im off to bag me a donor car for 200 nicker. Full service history too, which is a bonus.

I will post updates as they occur. Im new to all this, ive never done a conversion such as this so expect loads of stupid questions!

The Allspeed bulkhead box has arrived - Rob sure is efficient!

As promised, hes sent me some fitting guides too, here they are...

Front end off, old subby out.

Bulkhead cut, and the box is in.

Looking good mate :D

I really need to find someone to do mine :D :P HaylingMini is my best bet ;)

revingtosh 11-04-2009 11:19 AM

Cheers Captain jack!

I had a sleepless night with regards to the position of the bulkhead box as mine seemed different to everyone elses!

However, ive spoken with Rob at Allspeed this morning who has now set my mind at rest :-)

The next job is to clean up and paint the bulkhead as its a little scabby.

My mate (Big Al) is coming round at some point in the next few weeks to weld up the bulkhead box.

Ive asked Rob at Allspeed to stall the delivery of the subby as im away on holday (and so is he from the start of May) which will give me time to get everything else in order.

Just an update as i havent posted anything in a while.

My welder mate still hasnt had the time to weld the box in, hopefully that will be done this week.

However, i have done the following:-

I've made and fitted an MPI tank out of a cheaper SPI one and the Astra Fuel Pump.

Fuel feed / return / breather have all been run in some nice blue high pressure fuel hose.

My Allspeed subby / driveshafts / bracketry etc will all be here this week too! Yayyyy.

The Allspeed master cylinder bracket has now been trial fitted.

It did need some fettling however, but thanks to Hayling minis pics, i managed to get there in the end!

What i would say, is that the Allspeed instructions for fitting this linkage were non existent, so here are some pics to help anyonen else doing this job.

The rest of my Allspeed gear has arrived too: subframe, driveshafts etc and im really impressed with the quality of their work.

Im still waiting on my mate to come and do the welding for me so hopefully i should start to see some progress after this Monday!

For the minute, i intend to remove everything from the bulkhead and paint it all up nice.

Hi Mike
Pics of my bracket as requested:

Note the first & last picture, Allspeed supplied you with more brackets that need to be welded on to stop flexing. When your friend does the welding ask him to do this for you.
Good luck with the build.

revingtosh 23-05-2009 06:50 PM

Thanks Gerry - your build was the inspiration for me giving it a go.

Ive only ever done straight A Series swaps and like for like Ford swaps so this is all virgin territory for me :-)

I will get there, but im sure that it will take longer than a weekend!

Hayling mini 23-05-2009 08:19 PM

Well good luck with it, good to know you were inspired by my build :D

You certainly registered on the best forum for this conversion

Happy days!

The welding has now been done (Thanks to Big Al!)

Ive given the bulkhead a thorough clean up and a lick of paint too.

I shall commence with building it all back up tomorrow, i will post some more pics then.

All times are GMT. The time now is 06:54 PM.
