B18C1 MiniTec Build AKA Frogger

This might be a little premature but it's where I'm at so far.
Picked up my first mini cooper after contemplating building a superMini for a while. Found it in a surrounding state for a good deal. Owner had previously finished 95% of the body work. New panels all the way around. (fenders, hood, floor pans, front and rear vailences, grille assembly) Rebuilt engine/tranny w/ new hubs. Cosmic wheels, 8.4" Cooper S Brakes. LHD.
The Engine was done to a 1300 and will be going up for sale shortly. I belive it was a Metro 1275 motor.
We got him home and as for all the cars around here, it must be given a name. I have decided to go Bugadi British Racing Green and Frogger just stuck.
2000$ USD w/ trip expenses.

Leaving Colorodo

Selling the parts off the Integra should put me around 200$ spent for the Engine/Tranny/ECU/Wiring harness

good deal on the mini. wonder what happened to the gsr. looks like someone hit something pretty hard, is the block ok. the header is all smashed up against it. otherwise looks like a good deal. keep us posted on the progress.

The alloy are rare Cosmics 13" keep it up!

Great start Keoman. That sounds like a really good price for your GSR donor. I paid more for a JDM Civic SiR.

Nice to see another honda in the making :cool: Oh and yeah, that GSR looks like a willing participant :twisted:

B18C1? Interesting, never heard of this one before, over here we only get to hear about the C4/C6's

Good luck and looking forward to the build

hi, b18c1 is identical to the c4 we have, just the state side engine code. that header does look bashed into the block :???: could be the pic making it look worse though, good luck anyways :beer:

Thanks guys,
The parts on the teg got pretty smashed. VTEC KICKED IN YO! Radiator, Headers, Power steering pump, AC pump, clutch slave cylinder, shift linkage... the engine/tranny were crunched about 3 inches from where they sat originally. Luckily almost all the parts that got smashed/broken/bent are pieces that I dont need. :)
The Dirvers side engine mount looks to be in questionable condition. Not sure if its broken or not. If it is, might be time for a B20 block swap for some extra Ft/Lbs of roasting power! :twisted: Theres no replacment for Cubic Displacment I always say.
Just got done today rebuilding the engine in my 1989 IrocZ. 193,xxx miles and just a little head gasket / intake manifold gasket antifreeze leak.. not bad Camaro.. not bad :)
Time to dive head first into the Mini! Im so excited.

there is a few minor differences. the cams are a little more aggressive on the c4,

C4=In: 239 dur/ 10.8mm lift - Ex: 235 dur/ 9.4mm lift
C1=In: 230 dur/ 10.6mm lift - Ex: 227 dur/ 9.4mm lift

not enough to change over to c4 cams from c1's, but better.

and well thats about it.. the p9k is is a lot softer than the p72 which is why the c1 puts out a tad bit more power but thats easily changed with hondata :twisted: or u can just get an obd1 p72 and basically plug in a few more horse power.

What I mean those Cosmic alloys are very rare since the company Cosmic doesn't do those alloys anymore ( they shut down), It's a part/ accessories you try to keep, for they will appraise there price later on, and good for any Mini in the Park shows.:D

willp99, what do you think the power gains would be swapping to the p72, worth it or not :D also how would you go about the p9k immobliser :beer:

Great. I will definatly hold on to them. You wouldn't happen to know if they have the 7mm offset the MiniTec kit requires do you?

That's one catch using Minitec frame you have to clear at least 1" thick spacer if you re using wide alloys, and for this Cosmic I'm not really sure if an inch spacer will do as they recommend it, when using there aftermarket brake calipers .
